January 8, 2021 - Sweeny ISD is teaming up with GermBlast as a proactive measure to help keep our schools healthy and thriving.  The GermBlast service kills microorganisms in the environment that cause illness and infection such as coronavirus, the flu, stomach bug, staph infection, strep throat, and much more.

GermBlast uses the safest disinfectant on the market today that is gentle to the human body, friendly to the environment, and lethal to illness-causing bacteria, spores, viruses, and superbugs. Using mobile disinfecting units, highly trained and certified GermBlast technicians deploy a multi-step approach to remove and destroy infectious agents

“We use a multi-step service. We start with a very detailed wipe down of all your high touch points, then we use electrostatic sprayers and spray a hospital-grade disinfectant,” said Christy Haynes, Vice President of Client Experience at Germ Blast.

During the fall semester, the company established a pre-treatment baseline throughout the schools, athletic facilities, and buses.  This weekend, GermBlast will return as part of their regularly scheduled services.  GermBlast will also provide emergency response services if needed due to an outbreak.  Our custodial staff will continue to provide thorough daily cleanings to ensure our schools remain healthy learning environments for our students and staff.

Since the onset of COVID-19, GermBlast has serviced hundreds of school districts, hospitals, and businesses across the Greater Southwest Region and beyond.

Sweeny ISD Superintendent, Dr Tory Hill said, “the health and well-being of our students is important to us, so we have partnered with Germblast, to provide a healthier educational environment for our students to reach their full academic and athletic potential.”
