Sweeny ISD Provides Additional Resources for Employees

January 4, 2021 - Sweeny ISD is aware that this school year has been anything but normal for district staff members.  Often times, employees do not have to look far to find challenges both at work and at home. Starting January 1st, the district will be providing an additional benefit that can assist employees and their family members with any of life’s challenges. The Employee Assistance Program, provided by Aetna Resources For Living (ARFL), is a free and confidential service available to all employees, dependents, and household members regardless of medical coverage.

Dr. Hill, Sweeny ISD Superintendent said, “each Sweeny ISD teacher/staff member has responded to the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic while conducting the day-to-day operations of our schools and ensuring the efficient delivery of instruction, virtually and in-person. The Employee Assistance Program will hopefully ease any additional burdens our families may be experiencing at this time.”

Resources for Living confidential services can be accessed 24/7 by employees or their family members for in-the-moment support on topics such as stress management, depression and anxiety, substance misuse, relationship support, and grief and loss. Resources for Living will also help provide personalized guidance in locating resources for:  child care, summer programs for kids, care for older adults, pet care, home repair and improvement,  household services and more.

Employees will also have access to a website with a full range of tools and resources.  They will find:  articles and self-assessments, stress resource center, video resources, live and recorded webinars. Staff members will also have six free consultations on topics related to:  wills and other documents, real estate transactions, elder law and estate planning, budgeting, credit and debt issues, college funding, and tax and IRS questions.

“Sweeny ISD teachers/staff at all levels are essential to the daily operations of the district and critical for virtual and in-person instruction. We are happy to partner with AETNA to provide Resource for Living essential tools to our employees for their continued success,” said Dr. Hill.
